Read Philippians 3:4b-9
Being fully DEVOTED has many obstacles: worry, fear failure, loss of control or security! Our desire for comfort and convenience can keep us from sacrificing and following God…wherever he leads. Good deeds and success can actually become obstacles if we are too impressed with ourselves to commit to God’s work.

Consider the perspective of Paul: Nothing we have earned in this world compares with knowing and serving Jesus Christ.
What do you need to take off or set aside so you can plunge into the purposes of God?

I need to take “down time” off my Needs and replace it with time spent with God in His word. My down time is too often unproductive, lazy and self centered. I have always wondered what it would be like to “fast” from my down time and replace it with time spent with God.

I need to de-compartmentalize my life more so I can be fully devoted to God. I started breaking down the wall between my “work” self and my “church” self by inviting a few co-workers to the Easter service. I was so nervous but so glad that I did. One of them said he wants to “get back into it” and may take me up on it later, another said his son had been asking about God-related things, and another said would probably take up his wife’s invitation to go to church. Even though they didn’t end up coming, it opened doors for me to follow up and encourage them to take their next steps. It cost me a little comfort and relational tidiness, but that was one of the best “work” days I’ve had in a long time.
